Filmed, not generated means the person using your product, and the product itself, were recorded by a camera. A real actor holds and uses your real product on set, and no AI video model generated either one.
That is how we film product demonstrations at our studio in Simi Valley, California, and every UGC video ordered through our UGC site, OrderUGC.
Where it applies
Whenever someone is shown holding or using your product, we cast and filmed that person, and the product is the one you shipped us.

Why we film instead of generate
Buyers are checking the product
Most product video gets watched by someone deciding whether to buy. They want to see how big it is in a real hand, how the lid opens, what the texture looks like up close. An AI model working from a product photo has never handled your product, so it guesses at all of that.
AI-generated people get labeled
TikTok, Meta and YouTube all label realistic AI-generated content, and TikTok requires a disclaimer on ads whose media is AI-generated. That label lands next to your ad at the moment you're asking a viewer to trust the person on screen. Filmed footage of a real actor doesn't carry one.
California now requires a disclosure
Governor Newsom signed SB 1050 on September 16, 2026. From January 1, 2027, an ad that prominently features a synthetic performer (an AI-generated person realistic enough to pass as human) needs a clear disclosure. New York passed a similar rule first. How to tell if a video ad was filmed
These checks work for vetting a vendor or for reviewing your own ads.
- Hands. Watch the moment fingers touch the product. Generated video often merges fingers into the object or lets it slide through a grip.
- Text on the packaging. Pause on a few frames. A generated label tends to blur or change spelling between frames, while a filmed one stays put.
- Platform labels. TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube label content they detect or that creators disclose as AI-generated.
- Content Credentials. Many AI tools attach C2PA metadata to their output, and TikTok reads it to apply its AI-generated label automatically.
When AI video is the right call
AI video is cheap and fast per clip. It's a reasonable tool for testing dozens of hooks before you film the winners, for translating a script into many languages, or for a product that doesn't physically exist yet. Once the video has to show your real product in a real hand, film it.

Do I need an AI disclosure on an Envy Creative video?
Not for the actors we film, since they are real people. Platform AI labels on TikTok, Meta and YouTube, and California's disclosure under SB 1050, apply to AI-generated people and voices, so an AI-generated voice or presenter elsewhere in a video can still need one.
